Kitchen staff today have to deal with a lot of work that is dull, boring, and takes away valuable time that could be redistributed for more important tasks.

But what they could focus on what matters the most: creating amazing culinary experiences for their customers?

Welcome Dexai Robotics.

Founded in 2018 as a spin-out from The Charles Stark Draper Lab by David M.S. Johnson and Anthony Tayoun, Dexai was founded with the mission of protecting the food industry from economic vulnerabilities and labor shortages.

With populations rising and kitchen staff hard to find, Dexai has created the perfect replacement.

Alfred, the company’s robot instantly adapts to existing kitchens, can be easily controlled, and assemble a bowl in minutes.

The robot can currently use 30+ ingredients and detect all humans in the workspace 4ft away.

So is Alfred better than humans at what it does?

Technically… Dexai Robotics isn’t trying to create a superhuman robot, it is more trying to replicate human activity so that the restaurant experience remains flawless.

Dexai isn’t trying to replace humans from the kitchen but is trying to fill their void.

In 2020, the company announced that it had raised an oversubscribed $5.5 million seed round led by Hyperplane Venture Capital.

As of now, Dexai Robotics is expanding rapidly and recently served at Formlabs Digital Factory.

If you live in the Boston area, look out to see Alfred cooking up a salad or scooping ice cream!

I’m not sure if Dexai has expanded to other states and countries but I’ll give an update when I find out.

I look forward to seeing the future of humans and Alfred working alongside each other in restaurants or even personal kitchens.

All of this innovation has me ecstatic for what’s to come next.

A robotic future is incoming…Be prepared!
